heard the story of the little boy who threw starfishes back into the sea again today, and pastor was talking about making a difference in the lives of others.

i guess its been really long since i bothered to even make an effort to do that, with the humdrumness of life and all of us dulled to the monotony of mindless mugging. (hoho alliteration!) we saw a video of the work thats being done in rural china, and somehow it struck a chord inside. the orphans were so grateful they actually knelt down, with tears of thanksgiving in their eyes. for memories’ sake, pastor also spoke of the kids whose shoes were many sizes too small, and being unable to afford new pairs had to wear them till their shoes tore and their feet got deformed.

it made me realise theres indeed ”a love disparity”. afterall, whats the point of having so much money and keeping it to yourself when in the end, its not about your monetary assets, but about how many lives youve impacted. for just USD8 a year, a child in rural china can be put through school, allowing them to take the first step towards stepping out of the vicious cycle of poverty. (HAHA THIS SOUNDS LIKE THOSE TYPICAL ATTENTION DRAWING POVERTY CAMPAIGN SLOGANS) i guess a little more love on the part of everyone would make the world a better place (:
